Celebrating humanity - nature cycles
You are warmly invited to our Seasonal Gathering on December 19th, a moment to pause together and honor a rhythm that humans across the world have shared through time: the turning of the seasons.
Join this seasonal gathering to celebrate human-nature cycles, connect with people from around the world, and honour diversity in unity in this turning point.
For generations and across cultures, solstices have been moments to notice light shifting, cycles changing, and communities gathering. Many of the most important cultural heritage sites of the world are connected to the sun’s journey.
Today, our movement spans both hemispheres, and this turning holds very different meanings depending on where we stand. While the North begins its descent into winter and the South steps into summer, our energies naturally diverge, some of us slowing and reflecting, others rising into activity and expansion.
In this gathering, we honor our diversity in how we celebrate, sensemake, embody activism, work, resist, and adapt. In uncertain times, we need different ways of thinking, sensing, doing and being. By caring for our differences, we invite the wisdom of the collective to flourish, and with it, our shared resilience.
We’ll hear from three representatives sharing their perspectives and traditions:
• Caribbean perspectives with Renee Campbell (Grenada, Caribbean)
• A glimpse into the Druid tradition with Debora Benham (UK)
• Mapuche Culture sharing and Nguillatún with Daniela Zapata and José Luis Neguiman (South of Abya Yala)
After the sharings, we’ll have time in small breakouts to meet one another, listen, and connect across our global community.
Meet the speakers
Daniela Zapata and José Luis Neguiman

Daniela Zapata and José Luis Neguiman are a couple belonging to the José Calcumil Carillanca Mapuche Indigenous Community on Lake Maihue, in southern Abya Yala. They are young Mapuche leaders who are active in various social areas, including promoting environmental protection and care.
Renee Campbell

Renee Campbell is a Grenadian Jamaican. She is a project manager for child protection authority, National Youth Ambassador, and engaged with several community groups. She is advocating for reparations as a means of liberation, freedom and vindication, or resetting the clock.
Deborah Benham

Deborah Benham is one of the co-lead links for Transition Network international, involved in collaborative culture and conflict resilience development, exploring and helping to share the principles and practices that create positive change. Deborah’s background as a marine ecologist, wildlife guide and trainer, Gaia Education trainer, systems level biomimicry educator, and deep nature connection practitioner, mean that she is always looking for ways to incorporate the genius of nature into Transition’s work.
