Water, Balance, and the Work of Transition
An Equinox gathering for those navigating change, justice, and care
You are warmly invited to gather in community at a moment of profound balance: the Equinox, coinciding closely with World Water Day, a day that reminds us of what every human body already knows: water is life.
Thursday, March 19th, 17:00 - 18:30h UTC. Check your local time here.
Languages: English & Spanish with live interpretation
Across cultures and time, equinoxes have been moments to pause and notice a delicate equilibrium. This balance lasts only a moment: a reminder that it isn’t static, but something we practice again and again. On this Equinox, we turn our attention to water, the element that connects all of us, flows through all of us, and remembers far more than we do.
Water as common ground
Water is our most shared inheritance. All life on our planet depends on it. Long before water was treated as a resource, it was a source of life, of mystery, of stories, of relations. From rivers that hold mythical meaning to rain ceremonies that sustain communities, water has always been central to how humans make meaning, offer gratitude, and mourn loss.
In a time of climate breakdown, extractive systems, and deep inequality, water also tells a harder truth: access is not equal, harm is not evenly distributed, and protection often comes too late.To speak of Just Transition is to speak of water justice, of who is protected, who decides, and whose voices are centered.
Cultivating Balance
This gathering invites us to reflect on balance, not as perfection, but as a relationship.
- love and grief
- action and rest
- resistance and regeneration
- urgency and care
Water holds both: it nourishes but can also destroy. Especially in times of uncertainty, we need to learn to hold seeming contradictions, if not multitudes. To stay with the grief and the love, to keep showing up while also allowing ourselves to rest, to hold boundaries while nourishing connection.
Praying with Water, Defending the Earth
We will be joined by Verónica Sacta, political and spiritual activist, water protector, and pioneer of the Rights of Mother Earth. She is the Coordinator of Mexico Without Ecocide and a recipient of a UNESCO award as a Latin American leader for peace and ecology, as well as the National Peace Prize, Mexico 2025 (COMNAPAZ). Verónica will share from her lived experience of water prayer, ceremony, and diverse forms of activism, ranging from grassroots community defense to legal and spiritual pathways of resistance.
